Entering UK medical practice can be hard for any Doctor, regardless of where you’re from or how experienced you are. There can be significant differences in practising medicine your home country and the UK, and it can be difficult to adapt to working in a new culture.
The GMC invests in helping Doctors to thrive in UK practice and make this transition easier. ID Medical sponsors the GMC’s Welcome to UK practice workshop which is specifically designed for Doctors new to the UK.
This workshop was developed using the real-life experiences of other Doctors new to UK practice and guides Doctors through a series of ethical scenarios. We cover topics such as consent, confidentiality, raising concerns, care for children and young people, and prescribing. Using a variety of interactive learning resources, the workshop will help to build the confidence Doctors need to make the right choices when they face difficult ethical situations in their practice.
We encourage every Doctor new to the UK to take advantage of these workshops where they will also have the opportunity to meet other Doctors, ask questions, and learn from the real-life experiences of other Doctors practising in the UK.
